Your photo is only used to draw your portrait

The short version

• The photo you upload and the words you type are used only to draw your portrait. We do not publish them or show them to anyone.
• They are never used for advertising or to train anything.
• To deliver an order we need your name, email and delivery address. Your card is handled by Stripe; we never see it.
• The site has no advertising, no tracking cookies and no account.

When you make a preview

You choose a photo in your browser. Before it leaves your device, your browser reduces it and removes its metadata (including location). It is then sent, with your words, to our drawing server, which sends back the preview.

The photo is not stored: it is processed and discarded. To make repeated requests fast, the finished preview (not your photo) may be kept for up to one hour.

When you order, and why

• Your photo, your words and the print file: to print your order. Shared with Gelato, our printing partner.
• Your name, email, delivery address and phone number: to deliver the order and send the receipt. Shared with Gelato (delivery) and Stripe (payment and receipt).
• Payment details: handled by Stripe only.

How long we keep it

Order data is kept as long as tax and accounting law requires. Your photo and print file are deleted once the order has been delivered and any reprint period is over.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time what we hold about you, to correct it or to delete it, by writing to hello@petsinwords.com. If you are in the EU or the UK you may also complain to your data protection authority.
